External Backup Enclosure

Originally I wanted something that I could connect to my ZFS box and send a snapshot to. The only problem with this is, when the hardware fails and I need to retrieve my data, I would need an Solaris or OpenIndiana box to get the data back and access the ZFS.

I thought that JBOD was something that it was not. Its Just a Bunch Of Disks. Thats it, no raid, or combining. You need a port multiplier that supports FIS-based switching to access all the JBOD disks over esata. I did not want to do this. I want a single disk that I can plug into a linux system and get the backup off.

An enclosure that includes hardware raid would be most appropriate. Or something that utilizes the BIG (Spanning or Concatenation)
